About

Healthy students learn better

It is the goal of the Danville Independent School District nurses to support student health and academic success by contributing to a healthy and safe school environment. We support education by advancing and promoting health for all students through the implementation of professional nursing skills, health education, and the development of individualized health management so that all students can achieve their greatest potential. We recognize each child's individual needs and acknowledge the importance of a cooperative relationship between families, health care providers, and the school community to provide a supportive system that meets the needs of students.

Meeting health requirements for school attendance is an important part of making sure your child is ready for school. Danville Independent Schools is responsible for monitoring compliance with various student health requirements including compliance for immunizations, physicals and dental/vision exams.  The district nurses also complete staff trainings for certain health conditions and medication administration, assist with the IEP/ARC/504 processes for students with health/medical needs and collaborate with local agencies and organizations to provide health education and other services to the schools.
