The Danville Independent School District takes the safety of our students, our staff, and our community seriously. Any threats or other activities that may constitute any level of terroristic threatening will be referred to law enforcement for prosecution.
Consistent with Senate Bill 1 passed by the Kentucky State Legislature and signed into law by Governor Bevin during the 2019 legislative session, public school districts are required to notify students, parents and guardians of statutes regarding terroristic threatening definitions and penalties. Terroristic threatening is a felony offense that may be punishable by both fine and/or imprisonment.

Dear Students,
We want to make sure you feel safe, supported, and informed when it comes to serious issues like sexual extortion, also known as sextortion.
Sexual extortion or sextortion is a crime that happens when someone pressures you to do something uncomfortable or inappropriate, like asking for pictures of your body. Sextortion can also be when someone threatens to share inappropriate pictures of you that you don’t want shared unless you do something that you don’t want to do or send them money.

In accordance with Kentucky Senate Bill 181 (SB 181), all communications between Danville Independent School District staff and students must occur through approved, traceable platforms. This law is designed to ensure transparency and accountability in all electronic communication, helping to protect both students and staff.
To comply with SB 181, the Danville Board of Education has approved the following traceable communication platforms for all staff-to-student and student-to-staff communications:
ParentSquare will be our primary communication platform for both parents and students moving forward. ParentSquare allows for easy, secure, and documented communication with many features to help keep you informed.
You can access and review all communications sent through ParentSquare by creating an account linked to your contact information in Infinite Campus at www.parentsquare.com. If you need assistance accessing ParentSquare please contact your child’s school.
You can find ParentSquare Frequently Asked Questions on danvilleschools.net under “Using Communications Tool ParentSquare,” which includes information on how to view your student’s communications on the ParentSquare platform.

We want to let you know about a new state law that requires all schools to notify parents and guardians of their right to request religious exemption from specific instructional material within a course.
As always, our instruction in our school is based on state standards and grounded in the requirements of what we are expected to teach.
As a district, we consider you partners in your child’s education and recommend starting a conversation with your child’s teacher first, and then principal if needed before making any requests for exemption.
Any requests for exemption must be submitted in writing to the principal and include:
Requests cannot be for entire courses or required learning.
The principal will review and can approve or deny the request.
