Brady Morse, a 2022 Danville High School graduate, has returned to the Danville Independent School District this year as a middle school teacher for Anchor Academy. He’ll also be an assistant coach for the John W. Bate Middle School baseball team and a volunteer for the DHS baseball and softball teams, as well as a volunteer for Bate’s softball team.

“I love to teach kids,” he said. “I teach baseball lessons and stuff outside school, so I thought this would be a good fit for me. I know how to deal with kids. I like teaching them new things, and I thought this would be a good opportunity to do that.”

Morse will be teaching math, a subject he particularly enjoyed as a student. He said he appreciates that Anchor Academy will allow him to provide individualized support for students in math.

“It’s good in this environment because I get them one-on-one,” he said.

Because of the experiences he was able to have as a student in the Danville Schools, Morse said it’s important to give back.

“I think it’s good to give back to what gave to you,” he said. “So in my case, I like to give back to the schools that gave me a great education and gave me a good upbringing and my best friends. And for coaching, I’ve had some of my best experiences playing baseball and football here at Danville.”

He recalls great memories as a student in Rob Kremer’s math class, Heather Gover’s class, Shelby Cameron’s class when she was a middle school math teacher, the late Yolanda Weathers’ class, and others. Ron Ballard, who is now the district superintendent, was his second-grade teacher.

“Probably the most important experience I’ve had … was the impact the teachers had on me and, in sports, that the coaches had on me,” he said.

Morse’s father is Paul Morse, who is now the head softball coach at DHS. He was the head baseball coach when Brady Morse was in high school. He described his time as a player with his father as coach as a great time. He made many good friends on the team, including some who will be best men in his upcoming wedding.

“We won a lot and made it to the final four my junior year of high school,” he added.

Morse also was a player on the DHS baseball team when Terry Pitman and CJ Lynn were assistant coaches. They both also work at Anchor Academy. Lynn is now head baseball coach, and Pitman is still an assistant coach on the team. These are just a few of Morse’s ties to Danville Schools; both of his parents attended school in the district, as well as his mother’s parents. He described his family as having “big Admiral pride” with a “long lineage of Admirals.”
