At the April 21 Board of Education meeting at John W. Bate Middle School, several students and staff members were recognized for their accomplishments:
The Bate cheerleading team was recognized for qualifying for state.
Student Bryston Caldwell was recognized for qualifying for state in wrestling.
Students Mylan Peters, JahJah Meaux, Jayvian Meaux and Tre Miller were recognized for breaking track school records in the 4x100m relay.
The following staff were recognized:

Photo 2: Sixth Grade Science Teacher Mona MacCormack, for excellent implementation of OpenSciEd and work with ANET.
Photo 3: Cafeteria Manager Ebony Alcorn, for positive attitude and flexibility
Photo 4: Youth Services Center Director Ashley Mays, for dedication to Bate's students and families
In other business, the board approved the 2025-2026 salary schedule, which includes raises for all classified employees. There is an 11.29% average raise for classified employees. The rate of increase varies for employees. Classified employees' hourly rates were rounded up to the nearest $1, $0.50 or $0.25. There will be a 1.5% raise for classified employees each year. The raise will be 3% on the fifth year of employment. One major change to classified pay is for food service employees. Their pay is now comparable to that of other food establishments. The salary schedule is now on the district website.
