The Danville Schools Education Foundation and Alumni Association (DSEFAA) is accepting nominations for the Distinguished Alumni Induction Ceremony at givedanville.org/nominate. The deadline for nominations is Feb. 20 at 11:59 p.m.

DSEFAA Acting Co-President Gail Wright said an exact date for the ceremony has not yet been set, but it’s expected to take place in April or May.

“Getting the nominations in is critical right now so we have time to deal with those and reach out to everybody,” she said.

A qualification for those nominated is that they must have graduated from Danville High School 10 or more years ago (Class of 2015 or earlier). Wright said the DSEFAA is looking for individuals who have made a significant impact on Danville, or those who have excelled in their professional lives outside of Danville.

The ceremony will also recognize individuals who receive the Friend of the Admirals honor, which is for a community partner, and the Anchored in Excellence award, which goes to a current or past staff member of the Danville Independent Schools.

Purchase a plaque to display at Anchor Plaza

Another announcement from the DSEFAA is that they are still selling plaques for display at Anchor Plaza, located in front of Danville High School, at a discount through Dec. 31. Anyone can purchase the plaques to recognize an individual, team or organization associated with the Danville Schools, currently or in the past. The discounted cost is $75 per plaque; after Dec. 31, plaques will be $100. Plaques can be purchased at givedanville.org/store. Money goes toward the DSEFAA for educator grants, student scholarships and more. The DSEFAA gives a special thanks to Austin Shearer of The Dugout for producing the plaques and donating the first round of plaques to the DSEFAA.
