With winter fast approaching, it’s important to keep our families and community updated about how Danville Schools will deliver news of school closures and delays due to bad weather.
We will be making these announcements through an all-call to families, on the Danville Schools Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram pages, on our district and school website homepages, and via email to staff. Please make sure your contact information is correct on Infinite Campus. Announcements will also be made through TV and radio stations LEX 18, WKYT 27, ABC 36, FOX 56 and WHIR/WRNZ/WHBN.
Please note that these announcements are unrelated to those from surrounding school districts, which may differ.
Extracurricular activities such as athletic practices, games and performances may still happen during a school closure, depending on weather severity and where the event is scheduled to take place.
In the event of a closure due to severely cold temperatures that make it unsafe for students to walk to school and wait for buses, teachers and staff are still expected to report to work as usual.
In the event of a Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) day, students at Mary G. Hogsett Primary School and Edna L. Toliver Intermediate School will complete work from NTI packets. The packets will be sent home after Thanksgiving break. On these days, if you have questions, your child’s teacher will be available by email or other typical means of communication during the school day.
Students at John W. Bate Middle School and Danville High School will complete virtual assignments on NTI days. Information about assignments will be posted to their Google Classrooms, and DHS and Bate teachers will be available throughout the day virtually to support students with their assignments.
If there is a delay to the school day due to inclement weather, there will be no morning preschool.
More details will be released in the event of a school delay or closure.
