Family Resource and Youth Services Centers (FRYSC) directors of the Danville Independent Schools have a space at the Jennie Rogers Community Center for a food pantry. The pantry now serves approximately 20 families per month in the school district.

The directors hope to expand the program and purchase items for more storage for food. The pantry has already received support from the community. Mary G. Hogsett Primary School FRC Director Jennifer Price said the program received a $10,000 Hudson-Ellis grant, which will be used for food, personal items and other expenses for the pantry. Southland Christian Church purchased and donated a deep meat freezer to the program, the Boyle County Extension Office donated food, Trinity Episcopal Church donated $1,500, and Backpack Kids makes monthly donations of peanut butter, rice and tuna packets in addition to weekly snack bags that they provide for families. The Danville Rotary Club will be donating $12,500 from a golf scramble to the pantry.

Additionally, the Kiwanis Club of Danville has donated $1,000 to each Family Resource and Youth Services Center in the Danville Schools, for a total of $4,000.

There is limited capacity for the food pantry. If services are needed, Danville Schools families should contact the FRYSC directors to make an appointment for pickup. Contact information for all of the schools' directors, as well as more information about the FRYSC services, is available on danvilleschools.net under Families>Family Resource and Youth Services Centers (FRYSC).
