Horacio Sanchez presents at Danville Ignites Success

Danville Ignites Success took place Aug. 5-6. The two-day professional development event was for certified educators in the Danville Independent School District, districtwide. This event was led by Suzanne Farmer, the district's chief academic officer.

The first day included an opening session and breakout sessions that the educators chose to attend. These sessions were focused on academic content, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), trauma, community, technology, general strategies, Deeper Learning, leadership, special education, the arts, and more.

The opening session included a welcome from Superintendent Ron Ballard, who discussed several topics, including upcoming facilities projects and the district's strategic plan.

The second day of Danville Ignites Success included a visit from Horacio Sanchez, president and CEO of Resiliency Inc. His presentation included information about brain research and how it applies to childhood development and teaching.

Following the presentation, the educators broke into their school groups and discussed how to apply information from Sanchez's presentation into their school buildings, as well as school policies and improving student experience during transitional periods, such as arrival and dismissal.

Testimonials from some of our educators

"I wanted to express my appreciation for the recent teacher training session. I was thoroughly impressed with the caliber of the professional speakers who were brought in to lead the sessions. Their expertise and engaging presentations made the experience both informative and inspiring. The content covered during the training was not only relevant but also highly applicable to our everyday teaching practices. I believe that the knowledge and strategies I gained will significantly enhance my professional abilities, allowing me to better support my students and contribute more effectively to our school community."

Katie Knoll, Spanish teacher at Edna L. Toliver Intermediate School

"I thought Horacio's presentation was excellent. We've had a lot of speakers come in for professional development over the years, but it's rare that someone is able to connect ways to help our students to the actual science of learning in a way that feels actionable. Mr. Sanchez did that and gave me a lot of energy and momentum as I continue preparing for the start of school."

Rob Kremer, math teacher and academic team coach at Danville High School

"After last year, I didn't think Ignites could get any better, but this year was phenomenal! The whole event was thoughtfully organized and executed down to the finest detail. Horacio Sanchez and his presentation was the most relevant and engaging PD I have ever attended in my career. I hope he will be invited back! This school year is off to a great start!"

Melissa Marlowe, school psychologist, Danville Independent Schools

"I thought Horacio was an amazing presenter full of energy, enthusiasm, and full of comedy. His wealth of knowledge of learning with the brain in mind was thought-provoking and helpful! Would love to see him present again!"

Jennifer Brogle, gifted and talented teacher, Danville Independent Schools

"Horacio Sanchez's presentation was so insightful, with so much information to help me further understand our students!Mrs. Farmer did an excellent job organizing and planning the event. Every detail was taken care of so that there was a benefit for all attendees."
