Next week will see the opening of Danville High School's spring play, "Twelve Angry Jurors," an exciting courtroom drama based on the classic television film. It runs at DHS April 17-19.

ABOUT THE PLAY

"Twelve Angry Jurors" is about a murder trial in which 11 out of 12 jurors find the defendant guilty. One of them, #8, has doubts and won't just go along with the rest because it's convenient. Before their deliberations end, they must separate evidence from emotion and proof from prejudice, arriving — hopefully — at justice.

DHS PRODUCTION

The DHS production includes two elements that the audience will find particularly intriguing:

  • The triumphant return of retired Arts Director Jane Dewey as director
  • The unique staging of the play. While most DHS plays are staged with the performance onstage and the audience in Gravely's many seats, "Twelve Angry Jurors" will bring the audience into the action. There will be a black box theatre onstage, with seating on the set and the play taking place mere feet from the audience. Seats are limited to 60 per performance, so please order yours in advance if you can. Fortunately, there are five public performances to choose from, so there should be plenty of opportunities.
