Danville High School's fall play, "A Trip To The Moon," takes the audience back to the transformative summer of 1969.

The vignette-style play tells the stories of people reaching for their dreams of love, of equality, and of the stars.

"Built around iconic songs from 1969, these scenes are told with humor and empathy — from a girl trying to convince her parent to let her go to Woodstock in 'You Can’t Always Get What You Want,' to a woman trying to get a job at NASA in 'Bad Moon Rising,' to a soldier giving the new guy a reality check in 'Fortunate Son,'" said Jane Dewey, Danville Independent School District's arts director. "Join our talented student cast and crew as they take you on a journey through life's triumphs and challenges!"

English/Theatre Teacher Kellsie Covington, who is directing the show, said she enjoys the play's script.

"A Trip To The Moon" runs Oct. 26, 28, and 29 in the Gravely Hall Performing Arts Center, located inside Danville High School. Thursday and Saturday evening performances are at 7 p.m. The Sunday matinee is at 3 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, and $4 for students and seniors.
