Kentucky Safe Schools Week is set for September 14-18, 2026. This year’s theme is “Strong Roots. Safe Schools.” and emphasizes the critical need for constant vigilance and proactive measures in maintaining secure learning environments across the Commonwealth.

This dedicated week aims to empower schools to strengthen their safety initiatives through targeted activities and discussions. The goal is to raise awareness about various aspects of school safety and empower students, teachers, parents, and the wider community to take proactive steps in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment for everyone.

Join us and participate in this year’s campaign “Strong Roots. Safe Schools.” in your school, home and community. Take the online “Strong Roots. Safe Schools.” pledge.

I pledge to have "Strong Roots. Safe Schools":

• I will "Plant the Seed" by making choices that prevent harm, showing kindness, and taking responsibility for creating a safe environment.
• I will "Grow Connections" by building positive relationships, listening with empathy, and supporting those around me.
• I will "Strengthen the Trunk" by caring for my mental health, encouraging resilience in others, and asking for help when it is needed.
• I will "Branch Out" by welcoming everyone with respect, celebrating our differences, and helping each person feel they belong.
• I will "Harvest Safety" by recognizing the positive actions that strengthen our school and committing to continue building a culture of safety throughout the year.

During Safe Schools Week the KCSS website supplies a variety of teaching aids along with the online pledge and Kentucky Safe Schools Week Toolkit loaded with resources, lessons and ideas. Resources will also be available for school administrators and others at http://www.kycss.org/safe-schools-week
