The Danville Independent School District is pleased to announce three new coaches at Danville High School.
Whitney Cruver is the new head softball coach, Rob Anders is the new bass fishing coach, and Josh Loughry is the new head baseball coach. Read more about them below.
Whitney Cruver
Cruver is a 2004 graduate of Bloom Carroll High School in Carroll, Ohio, where she excelled on the softball field. At the time of her graduation, Whitney was the only BCHS alumni to be named to an All Ohio team all four years of her career. She is still listed in multiple categories in the OHSAA softball record books and is a 2014 inductee in the BCHS athletic hall of fame.
After graduation, Cruver continued her softball career at the University of the Cumberlands where she pitched and was utility player for four years. She was a three-year all conference selection and a two-year all region selection. In 2008, she was selected as Pitcher of the Year in the Mid South Conference. She’s recently been notified of her induction into the UC athletic hall of fame for the 2023 class.
She also served as an assistant coach in 2022 for the Danville Admirals softball team and also currently coaches the Fillies summer softball team.
Whitney and her husband, Desmond, have called Danville home for over 12 years and have three children in the Danville school district.
Rob Anders
Anders has been bass fishing his entire life and has been bass fishing competitively since he was in high school.
He has been a firefighter for the Lexington Fire Department since 2004. He is married to Sammi Anders, who has been in the DISD for 20 years.
They have four children and two grandchildren. One works in the Danville school district, and one is a freshman at DHS. They also have one grandchild in first grade at Hogsett.
He said, "I am looking forward to introducing new kids to bass fishing. Go Ads!"
Josh Loughry
Loughry is the new head baseball coach. He played at DHS and graduated in 2002. After graduation, he went on to play at Transylvania University and graduated in 2007. He has been coaching in the Danville baseball program since 2004 in middle and high school.
He has been with the DHS baseball team since 2009 and has been part of three regional titles and a final four appearance in 2021. He has been a successful travel ball coach for over 20 years, where he has coached multiple D1 and professional players.
