At a special called Board of Education meeting on Aug. 7, the board approved lowering the tax on real property nearly 10 cents, from 97.1 cents per $100 to 87.7 cents per $100. Additionally, the board voted to drop the tax rate on tangible property from 98.3 cents per $100 down to 94.4 cents per $100. The tax on motor vehicles remains the same and is based on a formula provided by the state.

This significant drop in property tax rates is possible due to increased property values and assessments.
