Jason Weathers

Jason Weathers, a 2000 Danville High School graduate, worked at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for 14 years as an application analyst. Now, he’s a clinical system analyst for Norton Healthcare in Louisville. He lives in Danville and is very involved in the local community. Most recently, he was the race director for the Black History Month 5K event in 2023 and 2024. He has also donated to the Salvation Army and The Agape House Pregnancy Resource Center in Columbia.

He’s married to Devan Weathers, who is a Class of 1999 DHS graduate, and they have two children, Junior and Layla.

He shared his story about attending the Danville Schools as a child.

Tell us about your Danville Schools journey. What school(s) did you attend, and what’s a highlight that stands out to you?

I attended Hogsett Elementary School, Bate Middle School, and Danville High School. With me having four older siblings, most teachers already knew about me. One highlight I can recall is the amount of reading I did when I was younger. Thanks to our parents, we visited our local library almost weekly. I recall getting a reward for most books read.

What aspects of your Danville Schools education helped mold you into the person you are today?

I was blessed to have great teachers and form great relationships with my peers over the years. The discipline and work ethic required of me at school was first taught to me at home by my parents.

When you think back on your Danville Schools experience, are there specific instances or relationships that stand out to you as having had a significant impact on your success since graduating?

There were several teachers I’ve had over the years that stood out to me regarding their teaching method, their level of respect and control of the classroom. That includes Mr. Trumbo, Miss Napier, and Mr. Zinner. I believe that helped shape me to be disciplined in various areas of my adult life.

As a product of Danville Schools, what advice would you give to a parent who was choosing an education path for their child?

My advice to parents would be to stay involved with your child's education. Reach out to the teachers and the school when you have questions, and also see how you can be of assistance to them.

As a product of Danville Schools, what drives you to give back to your local school and/or district?

Being a Danville Admiral, the anchor represents many things, one of those being hope. I will continue to support our district so the next generation can get the quality education they need to make a positive impact on the world.
