Congratulations to the Danville High School Academic Team for making it to the third round of the playoffs at the recent NAQT Small School National Championship in Chicago.

The team of Carsen Wastell, Sam Wilson, Madeline Purdom, and Kaiden Earle (along with additional team members Jack Erwin and Razz West as well as assistant coach Laurie Pierce) fought hard through 10 preliminary rounds on Saturday before being eliminated in a close match in the third playoff round on Sunday.

Special congratulations also go out to Carsen Wastell for being named a tournament All-Star and finishing as the highest-scoring individual from Kentucky.

"I've never had a team that showed more perseverance than this group," said Academic Team Coach Rob Kremer.
