Board of Education members received a gift from the district in honor of School Board Recognition Month.
There was a reception for Board of Education members following the regular board meeting on Jan. 27, in honor of School Board Recognition Month. Staff of the Danville Schools were invited to attend. During the meeting, the members also received a gift and cards from the district and schools.

Chief Academic Officer Suzanne Farmer, Assistant Superintendent Brian Gover and Superintendent Ron Ballard gave an update on the progress of the district's strategic plan. A few key points:
In the area of academic success, the district is seeing growth in utilizing brain research to serve the needs of economically-disadvantaged students; aligning learning targets with state standards through congruency work; and strategies for well-rounded education.
In the area of resources and operations, the district has smoother onboarding for new hires through automated processes; regular budget meetings with principals and grant coordinators/anyone who manages a budget; and continued implementation of the Option 9 program.
In the area of wellness, several points were shared, including how the district is working with local first responders; DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) implementation; and expanding extracurricular options for students.
The board approved the phase 2 documents for Danville High School and Central Office roofs and DHS's gym floor renovations.
The board approved the following selections of community leader members to serve on the Local Planning Committee (LPC): Liz Erwin, Rob Caudill and Alethea Bruzek. There are 20 total individuals on the committee.
The board approved a quote for an Admiral Stadium football scoreboard. The plan is for the high-quality digital scoreboard to raise funds through advertising and to showcase not only athletics but also academic and extracurricular achievements in the DISD.
