8th grade students share Literary Food Truck Festival projects

Congratulations to 8th grade students Emery Goetsch, Cymia Johnson, Xavier Bazan-Arrinda, Christian Hurt, Alvaro Calderon Martinez, Wesley Durham and Kyce Graves on creating exceptional Literary Food Truck Festival projects. These students presented their projects at the Board of Education meeting on Monday, April 20 at John W. Bate Middle School.

The festival project was made possible through a grant from the Danville Schools Education Foundation and Alumni Association and was organized by teachers Keva Buckley, Elaine Wilson-Reddy, Rachyl Stonebraker, and T.J. Bryant, Stonebraker’s student teacher.

Other business from the meeting: 

  • The board approved the district's professional development plan, Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Plan and LAU plan.
  • The 2025-2026 salary schedule was revised to make the staring salary for student workers the same as that of substitute classified employees, and the 2026-2027 salary schedule was approved.
  • A Bate construction base bid and alternatives were approved, as well as a Bate project BG-1 revision.
