John W. Bate Middle School's Junior Thespian Troupe #11778 is presenting their first-ever dinner theatre production.

It's a murder mystery dinner theatre production of "Café Murder" by Nathan Hartswick. Showings are at 6:30 p.m. March 13-15 at First Christian Church in Danville. Seating is limited, and a $15 reservation is required. The cost includes a catered dinner.

Bate Drama Teacher Darell Rickmers said it's a show he thought the students would be interested in doing, and they've had a wonderful time putting it together,

"The longer we rehearse, the better the show gets," he said. "What is unique about this show is that the students haven't had exposure to this style of theatre yet. Our murder mystery play includes a meal as well as direct interaction with the audience. The cast will be engaging in conversation with audience members at their tables. Other audience participation shows we have done involved talking with the audience from the stage. This is a whole lot different and getting them to experience this in rehearsal has been challenging, but I know they will meet this challenge successfully."
