Sixth-grade students from John W. Bate Middle School and Boyle County Middle School collected supplies for students at Sunrise Children's Services after being inspired by a book called "Invisible," in which the main characters completed a service project. 

Together, the Bate and BCMS students collected laundry detergent, school supplies and hygiene products like toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant and soap. 

"Also, each student at Sunrise was given a book bought through Scholastic," said Daveida Smith, a teacher at Sunrise.

At Sunrise, there are three cottages, for a total of 27 students. 

"We are always needing that stuff, so it was amazing!" Smith said about the supplies.
