Our Mission

Our mission is to provide authentic experiences that embrace diverse interests and prepare lifelong learners.

Why Danville Schools? Check out these testimonials.

I love Danville Schools because I grew up in Danville and attended Danville Schools from Pre-K all the way up until I graduated at Danville High. I also love that the teachers care and are willing to push students to where they need to be and help them in every way they can. I've seen it been done not only with me but my daughters, and I am thankful for our teachers.
-Cinnamon Whitley, Staff Member, Toliver
Danville Schools put the arts into the hands of any and all students who are interested. Arts education is such a high priority here. I find that giving these kids a creative outlet not only helps them build confidence, become better problem solvers, and stretch their creative muscles, but it also develops them into people who make friends with others from every walk of life. Art is how we express ourselves and tell stories that need to be told in many different forms. Danville does that like no one else around here.

When I think of "Why Danville,"  our spring choir concert was a perfect example! Our district is like family. It was so uplifting to hear the elementary choir, middle school, and then high school perform at one event. For families and teachers to see where students begin and where they end is truly amazing. For students to be a part of a program at a young age and be able to imagine what it will be like one day when they are in middle school or high school choir is inspiring. I love that our district does things "together" across grade levels and schools.
-Heather Gover, Staff Member, Hogsett
It's personal. I feel like everyone in this school system is there for each other and motived by the same reasons: our kids, community, and the pursuit of a brighter future.
-Kenny Griffith, Staff Member, Central Office/District-wide
Overall atmosphere of the schools. The kids are amazing. Staff work together to better the kids' learning experience to help them thrive. As well as fun times with outside play. Making sure their bellies are full so they can be alert and ready to learn. The morning smiles I get make for great days.

I love Danville Schools because I have gotten the opportunity to watch how much my child has grown over the last four years: how much Danville Schools has developed him and addressed gaps in his learning. Danville Schools has done amazing things for him and increased his reading and math levels by several grade levels. The teachers have been patient with his development over the years. It has given him a culturally-diverse education that allows all students to be included and welcomed.
-Daniel King, Caregiver and Staff Member, Bate
The staff at John W. Bate Middle School is exceptional and truly dedicated to our students, consistently going above and beyond to support them. Michelle Carver and JD Smith play a crucial role in maintaining the cohesion of our team and providing strong support for their colleagues.
-Ashley Mays, Staff Member, Bate
Danville Schools are truly empowering! During Intersession 2025, Lucy-Kayt was given the incredible opportunity to earn her food handler certification, unlocking new possibilties! Thank you Danville High School, The Parthenon restaurant, and the Berketis family for going above and beyond to make this Intersession an unforgettable experience!

Love their devotion to the children needs. They go above and beyond what any school I have ever encountered has ever done!
-Brenda Mullins, Staff Member, Hogsett
I love the Danville Schools because it is a wonderful place for students and staff to grow in their skills. As a teacher, I feel that I am supported in my career and am continually working to be better. I also feel that as a district, student success is the heart of what we do, and you get to see that success in learners every day. Danville is a place where you feel appreciated and valued. I love seeing the impact our school makes on families and students. I am thankful to be a part of such a wonderful school district and work with such amazing people.
- Somer New, Staff Member, Hogsett
"We view our diversity as a strength, and choose to learn from those who are different than ourselves. We support and encourage all students to learn in the ways they are best able."
- Karen Tompkins, Staff Member, Toliver
"It's a small town district that feels like family. For example, when my little brother passed away on Dec. 11, teachers and faculty at Bate Middle School started a meal train and continuously checked in on me and my family without hesitation. That alone is my 'why Danville Schools.'"
-Derick Hudson, Staff Member, Bate
"A couple members of maintenance came into my room with Mr. Dunn to work on an air vent. Mr. Dunn helped one of my students with her reading activity because he saw her struggling. It was a moment I really appreciated because both myself and my assistant were teaching groups at our tables, so we were unable to help her. I really appreciate the 'all hands on deck' feeling at Danville!"
- Allison Hughes, Staff Member, Hogsett
"Our amazing custodians make wonderful connections with students and staff kids! My kids no longer attend Hogsett, but Mr. Jerry always interacts with them."

-Tammy Lynn, Staff Member, Central Office/Districtwide
"I love doing what I do, and the kids all seem to love me too, so that is a bonus."
- Dana Gilliam, staff member, Toliver
"I love the diversity and the fact that we are small enough to have very close relationships top to bottom, but large enough to provide great opportunities. DISD is home. Go Ads and Bulldogs!"
- Clint Followell, Staff member and Caregiver, Central Office/District-wide
"I love the diversity and the fact that our students are encouraged to learn through hands-on, real life experiences, like Intersession. This is my 17th year working in schools, and I've never worked in one that did Intersession until now."
- Shelly Ayers, Staff Member, DHS
"To put it as simply as possible, it is because we can be impactful. Our school district is one of only a few that I know of where every staff member can know each other in the district. Every teacher can know the names of the students in their schools. We are uniquely poised to be impactful, not just in the classroom for our students, but in the lives of each other."
-Nic Senak, Staff member, Central Office/Districtwide
"I chose to work for Danville Schools because of the incredible diversity and the strong sense of community among the staff. The employees here go above and beyond to support students and each other, creating an inspiring and collaborative environment. It's also a special experience for me to return to the district where I grew up and work alongside some of my former teachers, who continue to be great mentors and role models."
- Abbie Hibbs, Staff member, Toliver
"Danville Schools meets the students where they are and helps build them up. The social emotional aspect of learning is there with the academics. Student confidence is blossoming."
- Sarah Krueger, Staff member, Hogsett
"Danville Schools has always been rich in tradition. As an alum, I vividly remember my time at Danville, and now as a teacher, I get the opportunity to instill that same tradition in my students. Being part of Danville and experiencing that sense of pride is something I will forever be grateful for! Go Ads!"

"I love Danville Schools because our students have positive daily exposure to learning activities that help build teamwork, academic stamina, multimedia integration, empathy, and rigor. They are also exposed to all content areas everyday!"
