Kentucky College Application Week

Kentucky College Application Week will take place November 26-30. College Application Week is an event sponsored by Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA). The goal of CAW is to provide EVERY graduating DHS senior with an opportunity to apply to college, with particular focus on helping first-gen students and students who may not otherwise apply. High school students are encouraged to wear college apparel.

Monday:

Seniors will make a list of colleges that they have determined would be a good match for them and to which they would like to apply.

Tuesday:

Seniors will create a ZIP Access Account to research all Kentucky colleges and university as well as check their KEES scholarship awards.

Wednesday:

Seniors will develop/finalize a personal statement or essay and save to thumb drive (provided by Beacon if necessary) so that they can quickly and easily copy and paste it into admission application during event.

Thursday:

Volunteers will assist seniors with actually applying to colleges.

Friday:

The Beacon YSC will host a pizza party/luncheon for those students who applied.
