    DHS teacher Amy Hurst was honored recently as the Central Kentucky Special Education Cooperative teacher of the year. She is an amazing advocate for her students and works closely with their families and outside agencies to ensure all of their needs are met. Congratulations Amy!

  • Heritage Area Strings Program Concert

    The Danville Schools After School Beginning Strings Program, a collaboration with the Heritage Area Strings Program, will hold their culminating concert this Sunday, May 19th, 3:00 pm, in the Gravely Hall Performing Arts Center. This program is sponsored by the Danville Schools Education Foundation. Join us on Sunday to see all HASP ensembles in concert!

  • Bate Students Advance in National History Bee Competition

    Congratulations to Billy Critchfield and Danny McAllister for placing in the regional top ten of the National History Bee. These two Bate Middle School students are advancing to nationals to be held in Atlanta, Georgia this June. They will be two out of 300 students nationwide to advance to the national championship! Quite impressive to have two students from one school make it to nationals. Congratulations guys!

  • 2013-2014 Preschool Screening Information

    Preschool Registration & Screening will be held May 16, 17 and 20. All screenings will be held at Hogsett Elementary. Children must be four (4) years old by October 1, 2013. Screenings are available for 3-4 year olds. For an appointment time or for more information please call Louellen Turner at the Danville Board of Education (936-8513).

  • Spring Band Concert

    The Danville High School and Bate Middle School Bands will present their annual Spring Concert Thursday May 9th at the Gravely Hall Performing Arts Center at 7:00 pm. Please join these students as they culminate a very successful musical school year!

  • Finley Wins Papa John's Scholarship

    Alexis Finley was presented with a scholarship check for $1000 from Papa John’s today, May 6. Finley applied for the Papa John’s scholarship a few months ago to help with her tuition to Asbury in the fall. Today, she and her class celebrated with pizza, compliments of our local Papa John’s. English teacher Cassie Dickison said, “I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the celebration!”

  • Youth Art Fair and High School Artist Project

    Please join our talented visual arts students for the Youth Art Fair and High School Artist Project Opening Reception this Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Community Arts Center! The Arts Commission of Danville Boyle County sponsors the annual Youth Art Fair which features 30 pieces of artwork from all five Danville Schools as well as artwork from surrounding schools. The High School Artist Project, sponsored by Ephraim McDowell Community Services, features reproductions of paintings by high school artists and a silent auction of all work.
