Danville Schools' Preschool Program is housed at Hogsett Elementary. The philosophy of this program, which serves three and four-year-olds from the entire district, is that children learn best through doing. The program fosters the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of children. The curriculum offers developmentally appropriate activities that encourage interactive and cooperative learning. The preschoolers enjoy a large, well-equipped classroom, a nutritious meal and a special fenced-in playground.
The program offers 1/2 day sessions, Monday through Thursday of each week. The morning session runs from 8:00 - 11:00. The afternoon session runs from 11:30 - 2:30. Fridays are used for activities such as staff planning, home visits, screenings, and family conferences. Transportation is offered for each session.
Children may qualify for the preschool program based on family income (child must be 4 by October 1st) or eligibility for special needs services (any point after age 3). For more infromation about eligibility please contact Greg Schulz, Preschool Coordinator at 859-238-1300.
Parents are active participants in their child's education, taking part in home visits, RIF family reading nights and volunteering in the classroom. The program is known for its motto--Tomorrow's Future Beginning Today!
