A goal for the YAS program is to have enough students and financial resources to put the students in career clusters, where they would learn about their career interests from an adult representative employed in the field of education, medicine, communication, and industry. The cluster leader would plan for speakers, field trips, and other activities appropriate for his/her student group. Keeping the numbers small within each cluster, instructors of math, science, social studies, language arts, reading and writing would teach in each cluster, providing individual instruction and immediate feedback. The YAS director would lead concurrent workshops on Saturdays for parents, providing information that would allow them to support and monitor their children’s educational progress.
