Danville, KY (26 October 2017) — The Danville Schools announces Kelly Bedtelyon as the senior media manager, a position previously contracted to a public relations agency.

Bedtelyon is a graduate of the University of Louisville and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication. She has an extensive background in communications and non-profits, having served as a director of communications and marketing for the Boy Scouts of America and the American Heart Association. Bedtelyon brings nearly eight years of crisis communication management and a track record of expanding online communities.

Kelly will be responsible for the district’s internal and external communications and promotions. One area of focus will be celebrating the talents, successes, and achievement of the students, staff, and community of the Danville Schools.

The newly created position will report to the district’s superintendent, Dr. Keith Look.

“We are excited to have Kelly join our team.  Her experience, eagerness, and deft communications skillset will strengthen our relationship with all stakeholders and anchor the district’s impact on public education moving forward.” Dr. Look said.

Bedtelyon has a sister who has been a public school teacher for 14 years. Hearing success stories from her sister’s classroom ignited a passion for education. "There are great things happening in the Danville Schools thanks to great teachers and administrators who devote their lives to education," Bedtelyon said. “I look forward to meeting the staff and being their megaphone for incredible things happening inside their classrooms.”

Her first day was on Thursday, 26 October 2017.
