DHS Students Bring Home Win in Speech Tournament

Danville High School won the Beechwood Tiger Invitational Speech Tournament held Saturday (11-14-15) in Fort Mitchell.  The team came home with twenty-three individual honors including tournament champions in Declamation and Oratory.  Boone County, LaRue County, Scott, Harrison County, and Kentucky Country Day placed second through sixth in the team contests with students competing in thirteen speech and one debate category at the meet.  Danville will host the twenty-second annual Tournament of Firsts on Saturday at Danville High.

Danville award winners at the Tiger Invitational:  Broadcasting: Mackenzie Howe second;  Declamation: Claire Strysick first, Charlie Hall second, Becky Mohr fifth, Payton Young sixth; Dramatic Interpretation: Dylan Godbey second, Havannah Martin fourth; Duo Interpretation:  Matt Ballard and McCallum Morley third; Extemporaneous Speaking:  Billy Critchfield second, Caroline Bugg third, Katie Critchfield sixth; Impromptu Speaking: Emma Merryman third, Greg Goldie fourth, Billy Critchfield fifth; Improvisational Duo:  Dylan Godbey and Natalie Grubbs third, Charlie Hall and Haley Hopkins fourth, Levi Daugherty and Joseth Warner sixth; Original Oratory: Abigail Anderson first; Poetry: Caitlin Haskett fourth, Cole Verhoven sixth; Program Oral Interpretation:  Zane Arnold second; Prose: Greg Goldie third; Storytelling: Zane Arnold second.
