Board Recognizes Student Excellence

The board recognized four middle school students for their mock Congress project and high school students for their GPAs Monday night during their regular meeting. 

Summer Quinn, Ian Funkhouser, Colin Carver and Ella McKinney (not pictured) from Bate Middle School were recognized for excellence in perseverance after working diligently on a bill during Mrs. Wall's mock Congress project that created a middle school student council. 

The board also recognized student athlete Stephen Ray, selected as the Advocate-Messenger's Athlete of the Week from the five-county area. 

The board also recognized both high school boys and girls soccer teams on winning national awards for their team GPAs. The 2014-15 girls soccer team earned their 6th High School Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for an average team GPA of 4.02. This puts them as the highest in Kentucky and 23rd highest in the nation!

The 2014-15 boys soccer team was awarded their 15th High School Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for earning a team average GPA of 3.75. They are in the top 5 in Kentucky and the top 25 in the nation!
