Emma Jackson has been named the NATIONAL JSA Public Relations Director. She is one of 9 national JSA cabinet members for the 2013-14 school year. This is a tremendous honor that brings with it tremendous responsibility, but we have no doubt Emma will do a great job. She recently attended a 3-week JSA summer school program at Georgetown University on Politics and the Media. The course was designed to be equivalent to a 3-credit college level course. Emma used her experience as a C-SPAN intern during last fall's VP Debate to connect her Georgetown class with C-SPAN.

Also, Austin Barringer and JSA sponsor Shari Stewart just returned from the mountains above Silicon Valley, CA, where they attended the JSA Montezuma Summit. Austin was one of 55 JSA emerging leaders and Ms. Stewart was one of 6 teacher advisers invited to attend this year's 3-day summit. It was an intense working weekend that resulted in goals and plans to improve JSA chapters across the country. The accompanying picture shows Austin in the very room where Professor E.A. Rogers began JSA in 1934 at the Montezuma Mountain School for Boys. Austin will be using what he learned to strengthen JSA chapters in the Ohio River Valley. Congratulations to all!
