This program develops pupil competencies in construction carpentry involving the layout, fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of structural units. Emphasized in instruction are the care and use of hand and power tools, equipment, and materials; common systems of frame construction and the principles involved; cutting, shaping, and fastening a variety of building materials to exact specifications; drafting; blueprint reading; applied mathematics; materials estimating and standardized cabinetmaking. The actual construction of a three-bedroom house, and the construction of 2-3 kitchens per year.
