HONORS GEOMETRY Grade level:  9-11 Credit: 1 M 

This demanding course includes the study of basic geometric figures, shapes, relationships, and transformations with an emphasis on proof-writing and formal logic.  This course moves at a faster pace than Geometry and demands a more rigorous approach to mathematics.  Students successfully completing Honors Geometry should be well-prepared for further advanced mathematics.  Major units of study include:  Basic Concepts and Relationships, Logical Reasoning, Lines and Angles, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Transformations, Congruent and Similar Figures, Right Triangles and Basic Trigonometry, Circles, Review of Measurement (Plane Figures and Solids), and additional topics as time permits.  Students should provide their own scientific calculator (approx. $10 to $15 retail or contact the Beacon).
