Description:  Do you “Enjoy Eating” and cooking good foods? Ever think about it as a career? Then explore Danville High School - Southern 101 BBQ Institute Course - with four working days in a culinary-like environment at Danville High. We will study and prepare meats and vegetables via an outdoors grills/smoker.  One day will be spent learning safety and preparation techniques. The goal here is to help assure that all students have the basic knowledge needed to provide the safest possible food products. All food items will be prepared to eat in a functioning-like restaurant setting.

 

Educational Objectives:

1. To teach techniques in the art of Southern Style BBQ and Grilled Foods. 

2. To teach techniques in the art of Beef, Poultry, Pork, Seafood, and     Vegetables entrées preparation.

3. To teach techniques in the service end of slicing meats and plate    presentations.

4. To teach safety technique to use outdoor utensils, cooking tempeture, coal and/or wood.

 5. To provide students with snap shot of hands-on skills for Culinary Arts Education, Career Readiness, Life Skills training.
