Student Dress Code

Student Dress Code Policy
Clothing and school accessories are expected to be appropriate for school. This includes backpacks, school supplies, lunchboxes, and other articles.
 
Rules include:
  • Markings or insignia on clothing, accessories, or the body must not be offensive or advocate disruptive or illegal activity.
  • No offensive language on clothing or accessories is permitted .
  • No clothing should display messages for drugs, alcohol, tobacco products, firearms, violence, and/or sex.
  • Hats may not be worn in the building.
  • Clothing must not have inappropriate holes or tears.
  • Underwear should not show.

Shirts/Sweatshirts

  • A tee shirt shall be worn underneath mesh or net shirts.
  • Shirts shall cover midriff and belly button.
  • A tee shirt shall be worn underneath or over tops with spaghetti straps.
  • A tee shirt shall be worn underneath or over shirts with big armholes.
  • No halter tops or tube tops are permitted.

Dresses

  • No dresses without backs are permitted.
  • No spandex or Lycra dresses are permitted.
  • Dresses must be no shorter than thumb-tip length when arms are held at sides.

Pants

  • Pants are to be worn at the waist; no sagging or bagging.
  • Pant hems should not go below the heels of shoes.
  • Spandex or Lycra pants or shorts are permitted only under a suitably long top.

Shorts

  • Shorts are to be worn at waist, no sagging.
  • Spandex or Lycra shorts are permitted only under suitably long tops.
  • Shorts must be no shorter than thumb-tip length when arms are held at sides.

Shoes

  • Tennis shoes are required for P.E.
  • No flip-flops are allowed (due to safety issues).
  • All shoes with laces must be tied (due to safety issues).
  • No heels higher than one inch are permitted.
  • Sneakers with embedded rollerblades/skates are not permitted.
  • Tennis shoes are the shoes of preference for school each day unless students are asked to wear others for special occasions. 

Jackets/Coats

  • While in the school building, all outerwear, jackets, hats, and gloves must be removed.

Make-up and Hair

  • No make-up, including glitter, is permitted at school.
  • No painted hair is permitted.
  • No face painting is permitted.

Any student whose clothing is considered inappropriate will be required to call his or her parent or guardian to bring appropriate clothing to school.

The above rules are enforced unless principal/teacher permission is given for special occasions or events. The principal has the final authority in determining appropriate school attire.
