About Me:
My husband and I moved to Danville from Cedar Rapids, IA, in the fall of 2005, and I'm very happy to be at Danville High School. I have taught in 6 different school districts, including schools in Iowa, Wisconsin, and now Kentucky. Most of my experience has been as a high school English teacher and drama director, but I have also been a gifted and talented program coordinator, a periodicals assistant at a college library, and an adjunct instructor in developmental psychology at a community college. For 10 years when my children were young I was a substitute teacher at several different schools.
I strongly believe in the power and the joy of education. It's essential for students to think critically, creatively, and independently. If they are curious and willing to work, they will become autonomous learners who can bring those skills with them for the rest of their lives.
My husband and I have 3 sons who are scattered around the country. My oldest is a software engineer in New York City, although he and his wife will soon be moving to Northern Virginia. My middle son is also a software engineer, and he and his wife live in Cedar Rapids. My youngest son is a legislative correspondent for a congressman in Washington, DC, and got married this past summer in Danville.
