Click on the headline to find a document we are calling a math “hot list.” The purpose of this list is not to be a comprehensive curriculum, but instead, to provide students, parents and teachers with some of the most important skills needed at each grade level in order to have a good foundation for moving on to the next. Students should be able to perform the mathematical tasks described in each grade level prior to the one he/she is entering. For example, an incoming 5th grader should be able to complete all tasks listed for Preschool through 4th grade. This will be a priority for students for the upcoming year.
Destruction of special education records for former students with a birthday of 1988 and prior has been scheduled for July 18, 2013. If you would like to obtain a copy of your records, please contact Tina Wray at 936-8501.

The Danville Schools were named a District of Innovation as result of a new opportunity that lets public schools propose new ways to organize learning to significantly boost achievement and prepare students for success beyond high school. Under the Danville proposal, all students would start working toward state college- and career-readiness targets in sixth grade and get real-world learning opportunities in new courses as well as out-of-school experiences that emphasize research, design, and community action. PHILADELPHIA: Danville High School sophomore Sue Cook placed second in the nation in Oratorical Declamation at the 62nd annual National Catholic Forensic League national speech and debate tournament held at UPenn and surrounding high schools over Memorial Day weekend. Cook advanced through four preliminary rounds and three awards rounds before performing in the national finals for a crowd of several hundred people at the Philadelphia Convention Center. Her speech, "My Stroke of Insight," was originally delivered by Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, a neuroscientist who survived a stroke and later explained the unique perspective of witnessing her own research topic from inside her own body and what she learned from the experience. DHS teacher Amy Hurst was honored recently as the Central Kentucky Special Education Cooperative teacher of the year. She is an amazing advocate for her students and works closely with their families and outside agencies to ensure all of their needs are met. Congratulations Amy!

The Danville Schools After School Beginning Strings Program, a collaboration with the Heritage Area Strings Program, will hold their culminating concert this Sunday, May 19th, 3:00 pm, in the Gravely Hall Performing Arts Center.
