Danville Schools Awarded $850,000 Physical Education Grant

Danville Schools was one of the 67 grants awarded to Local Education Agencies and community Based Organizations (CBOs) to implement comprehensive, integrated physical activity and nutrition programs for their students through the Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP). PEP grantees receive funds to initiate, expand, or improve physical education programs for students in kindergarten through the 12th grade. Through these programs, it is expected that students will develop an appreciation for lifelong healthy nutrition and physical education habits and make progress toward meeting their State standards for physical education. Hogsett Elementary Selects New Principal

We are honored to welcome Mr. Leo Labrillazo as the new principal of Hogsett Elementary School. His experience, talent, perspective, and steady disposition made him a clear choice for the SBDM council and the Hogsett family. A veteran educator and teacher of music, Mr. Labrillazo most recently served as the interim principal for Warner Elementary School in Jessamine County. His tenure also includes roles such as Student Achievement Team Coach, Project-Based Learning Teacher Leader, Department Chair, and Extended School Services Coordinator. Congratulations to new Bate Middle School Assistant Principal, Michelle Carver. Michelle comes to Bate with 20 years of experience in education. She has spent the past four years serving as Assistant Principal/Counselor in an elementary school.
