Registration for our 5th Annual Experience Danville is now open. Experience Danville will take place at Danville High School, June 15-18 from 9 am to 12 pm each day. Breakfast will be served from 8:30-9:00 and lunch from 12:00-12:30. The cost is FREE and transportation will be provided. Danville Schools 2015-16 Kindergarten Registration

The Danville Schools are registering Kindergarten students for the 2015-16 school year. If your child will be five (5) years of age by October 1, 2015 and is a resident of the Danville School district, we invite you to enroll him/her in the Danville Schools. "Danville's Got PEP" TEAM

The first two sign-ups for the "Danville's Got PEP" TEAM walking Saturday in the Ephraim Wellness/Danville City Community Walking Challenge "Get Healthy!" were Kathy Belcher and Shelly Stinnett. Will you join us Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Millennium Park between 9-12 and take the 10,000 STEPS Challenge? Participants will receive a pedometer at check in (students too) and when you get to 10,000 STEPS or are finished turn your pedometer back in at check-in and receive some freebies. There will be stations for students such as: walking, jump rope, football throw, sports and SPARK games. Several activities for adults will be available for everyone can get 10,000 STEPS! If you want to participate in the community "Get Healthy" Challenge send email to: mailto:jfluty@emhealth.org to receive a registration form or come out to Millennium Park Saturday. Participants can walk individually or participate in a TEAM. If you don't have a team and would like to join the Danville Schools "Danville's Got PEP" TEAM be sure to include that on your registration paper. Sixth Graders Apply Scientific Principles to Soap Box Derby

Sixth grade project-based learning at Bate Middle School! Students applied scientific concepts like gravity, friction, and energy to make soap box derby cars and run trials! "The value in these performance tasks and presentations is that it's important for kids to look others in the eye and show what they know. These kinds of assignments can push learning deeper than lessons for a multiple-choice test. The work is active and real. And the results show strengths and needs in a vivid and immediate way. It's great to see how much our teachers and students want learning to be about real challenges," Board Chair Lonnie Harp said.   READ MORE...
Middle School Students Tackle Project-Based Learning Tasks

Project Based Assessment Tasks (PBATs) were completed this month by our 7th and 8th graders! This year, 7th graders focused on application of the scientific method and 8th graders did cross-disciplinary projects on eminent domain. "This method of learning benefits all students, because it allows them to fully demonstrate through different methods, including visual and physical models, speech and narration, that they have a deep understanding of the subject," Bate Middle School Principal Beth Lee said.   READ MORE...
