She has spent the past four years serving as Assistant Principal/Counselor in an elementary school. Danville HS Students Recognized for Excellence at National Speech and Debate Tournament

Cloe Anderson, Sue Cook, and Andrew McKinney from Danville High School earned special recognition for excellence in speech and debate at the 2014 National Speech and Debate Association National Tournament in Overland Park, Kansas. After six rounds and two days of preliminary competition, each of these Speaking Admirals were advanced into the top sixty in their events: Anderson in Humorous Interpretation, Cook in International Extemporaneous Speaking, and McKinney in Congressional Debate (Senate). All three were recognized as placing in the top quarter of all students at the tournament. Three thousand students participated in the 2014 National Tournament, billed as the world's largest academic competition. The event drew visitors from across the country and beyond. Top performers take home more than $200,000 in college scholarships. To attend, students must qualify at one of 108 district tournaments held from Guam to Maine. Purging of Special Education Records

Destruction of Records Notice- In accordance with district procedures and records retention guidelines, the following special education records, including personally identifiable information no longer needed to provide educational services to the student. These records, currently housed at the Danville Board of Education, will be destroyed after July 28, 2014: Special Education Due Process Records for students who graduated from or left the Danville Independent Schools prior to 2011. It is noted that portions of these records may be needed by the student or parent/guardian for future services or benefits. A record of the student’s name, his/her grades, classes attended, grade level completed, and year will be kept permanently. The student (eighteen or older) or parent/guardian may obtain a copy of these records by contacting Tina Wray, Director of Special Education at 936-8501, no later than July 23, 2014.   READ MORE...
New Jennie Rogers Principal Selected

The Jennie Rogers SBDM council is pleased to announce the hiring of the new principal at Jennie Rogers Elementary. Robin Kelly, assistant principal at Bate Middle School, will begin her duties as the principal of Jennie Rogers on July 1. She is a DHS graduate, a former Jennie Rogers student and she was also an intermediate teacher at JRES for 7 years. Mrs. Kelly has a wealth of administrative experience which includes serving as both an assistant principal and principal at an elementary school in Bardstown. She came back to Danville in 2010 and was interim principal at Bate Middle School for a year. She has been the assistant principal at Bate for the last 3 years.   READ MORE...
New Superintendent Selected

The board of education voted today to hire Dr. Keith Look of Louisville as the new superintendent of the Danville schools. Events will be planned in the coming weeks to introduce him to our staff and to the community. Attached is a one-page bio of Dr. Look. Danville High Brings Home Honors From National Speech Tournament

Danville High School made an impressive showing at the National Catholic Forensic League Grand National Speech and Debate tournament held in Chicago over Memorial Day weekend. Nearly six hundred high schools and two thousand students from around the country, winners of diocesan contests sponsored around the United States earlier this year, competed in six speech and four debate events on Saturday and Sunday. When Saturday’s competitions were tallied, approximately twenty percent of the entries in each event were advanced to the award rounds. District Occupational Therapist Receives CKEC’s Outstanding Educator Award

On May 16th Danville Schools Occupational Therapist Lisa Dreager received CKEC’s Outstanding Educator award. Lisa was nominated for her outstanding service and dedication to the students and staff of Danville Schools. She provides therapeutic services to students in all five schools and Sunrise Children’s campus. She also serves as the district Safe Crisis Management trainer and assists teachers in the development of positive behavioral supports.   READ MORE...

She is the recipient of the 2014 Lydia Ellis Innovative Arts Educator Award.Thank you for making significant contribution to engage our Danville High students in visual arts, media arts and multi-disciplinary arts instruction. The Lydia Ellis Innovative Arts Educator Award was created by the Danville Schools Education Foundation to honor outstanding arts educators working in an artistic discipline. Named for Lydia Ellis, an outstanding retired arts educator and media specialist, the Innovative Arts Educator is awarded annually to a Danville Schools teacher.  READ MORE...

Annual Community K - 12 Student Artwork Exhibit

Student artwork has been chosen by each school’s visual art teacher to be part of this exhibit at the Community Arts Center on Main St! Join the festivities during the Opening Reception this Thursday May 8th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Browse artwork created by K – 12th grade students in our community and plan to bid during the silent auction for the High School Artist Project! The exhibit is open throughout the month of May during regular Community Arts Center hours, Weds. – Fri. 10 am – 6 pm and Sat. 10 am – 4 pm! DHS Academic Team Top 20 in the Nation

Congratulations to the DHS Academic Team for their 17th place finish in NAQT's Small School National Championship this weekend. In addition, DHS freshman Daniel McAllister was named the top freshman in the nation for his performance in the tournament. Join us in congratulating team members Brittany Kenyon (captain), Joseph Muth, Daniel McAllister, Eric Matherly, Griffin Ross, and Sarah Goosey.
